“Along with my new notebook I had to get some anti-virus-software, since there's way too much strange stuff going on out there that I didn't want to mess up my notebook. So I asked around and heard about Norton which sounded alright and when I was told that there would be a new '07 version I went for it. Overall I am very happy with NAV 07, I haven't had any problems so far and can only recommend this to anyone who doesn't want to spend his whole life with the settings of his anti-virus software but still wants to feel safe. This does the trick (and more).”

“I bought this product after previously using Symantec's security products (anti virus, firewall, anti spam etc.) and because I've always felt safe and secure and have never had any problems with them before. The product itself is second to none. It has 'worm protection' that stops certain damaging internet worms at the point of entry, rather than letting them get into your system, then detecting them when it's too late! It removes viruses (from both email attachments, your PC, and also scans any external media - CD/floppy disks etc. for threats) It also removes worms and Trojan horse programmes. The programme also detects 'spyware' (programmes that track where you go and basically spy on you, while you're surfing the net). The firewall will 'hide' your PC from the outside world, making it invisible to hackers etc. 'Intrusion protection' automatically blocks suspicious incoming traffic. It also has an inbuilt 'network detector' so it changes your setup when you transfer from stand alone operation, on to a network - useful for laptop users that come into the office and connect to their company's network. The anti spam programme included it also goodand very effective, blocking most 'illicit' and 'fraudulent' spam messages, as well as general advertising spam, putting them into a spam folder.”

Norton Systemworks

“I got System Works 06 to fix things on my computer because I'm not really a computer-buff at all and I guess I'm probably exactly the type of person they made this software for. Installation was very easy by just following the on-screen instructions as you go and handling overall is very comfortable and intuitive. Everything is managed via a single interface called "Protection Centre" where you can decide what to scan on your computer and what status the modules are in (running, disabled or whatever). I wasn't sure there were system tools like this around that you can handle without really knowing much about your computer and all the background of how the registry works and whatnot.”

“It integrates well with Windows, is user friendly, and updates automatically. And of course it also has the ever reliable antivirus! The only negative thing I would say is the amount of time it takes to install.”

Norton 360 Version 2.0

“I love this product. Great online backup, good graphics, and easy set-up. Its much better than the earlier security products. My computer is wireless, so its hard to protect it unless the Ethernet is plugged in, but otherwise its perfect!”

Norton Save & Restore 2.0

“It is easy to install and use so I have been able to backup and restore my files without any hassle. It has a pretty neat notification system that pops up to tell you if an automated backup has failed and why, for instance if you are running out of disk space. I have backed up the contents of my computer onto an external hard drive so if my hard disk fails it will be easy to get back my beloved photos and music”

Norton Ghost 14.0

“By creating a snapshot of my hard drive and backing up its files, I managed to completely recover my system when it went really wrong. Norton Ghost 14.0 manages the space that your backups take up so you don’t have to guess how many recover points will fit on your backup drive so you can be in control over the backups that Ghost makes. Without it I doubt I would’ve lost so much!”

“I found Norton Ghost 14.0 a little daunting at first as it is capable of so much but once I got used to it I can schedule backup easily because of the great wizards that come with it. It has made my computer run a little slower but recovering my hard drive is easier and much faster than other backup programs I’ve used.”

“This is a real solid antivirus for Mac OS X. I know that there are relatively few viruses for Mac compared to a computer running Windows but it is good to know that I am safe from Mac viruses. It is better to be safe than sorry, and it stops me from passing any PC viruses on to my friends. And I know that as it automatically updates its virus definitions I will be protected when a new Mac virus appears. The LiveUpdater which retrieves the new virus information runs in the background now, which compared to older versions where the window got in the way of any windows on your desktop, is a great improvement. I don’t notice any slow down while I run full hard drive scans, which I know can be a problem with PC antivirus programs. The widget it adds to my dashboard is pretty cool as well. It displays the current critical threats to online security, which while the information is shows is often only relevant to PC users, its still a neat little tool. At the end of the day, you really should get this as its gives you peace of mind you get from knowing your Mac is well-protected.”
